July 8, 2016 Card Challenge - SGGW Group

Hi Card makers,

Life has been busier than I expected during retirement but I managed to get some stamping time in this week.  This week's Stamping Gals Gone Wild Facebook group challenge was posted on Friday and I just made it on time before another challenge gets posted.

Excuse the quality of the photo.  I used a different editor.

Have a great day!

Can You Case It#115

Hi card makers,

Since I really like the color combination of  red, yellow and black, I had to enter the Can You Case It color challenge again.  I love the #My Favorite Things Four Way Chevron die as the background and base for this card.  The sentiment on this card makes me laugh, but I'm sure we've all had days where we feel like this.
Here's the challenge:

Can You Case It#115

Hi Card makers,

I'm entering the Can You Case It Card Challenge #115.  I've had this card to post but it's been an incredibly busy week.  I love this color combo - red, black and yellow!  After I finish posting this I'm heading to my craft room to finish making a baby shower card.

All the products I used to create this card are from My Favorite Things.

Here's my card:

Stamp Ink Paper Challenge #40 Card

Happy Easter Peeps!  (Pun intended.)

The Stamp, Ink, Paper Card Challenge was a tic-tac-toe challenge.   I like that type of challenge because you have lots of options to create a card.

The toughest part of making the card was finding my button shank remover tool.  Love my craft tools.  Alas, I found it and removed the shank from this beautiful rose button.  It's been in my ephemera staff for years just waiting to be used.

Here's my card for the Stamp, Ink, Paper #40 Card Challenge.  I played with the top row: Embossing, Anniversary and Buttons.

I used an embossing folder to emboss the fishtail piece but it's cloudy today and you can't really see the dry embossing.

CAS(E) This Sketch #165

Hello card makers,

I'm trying to get ahead of my card giving events and so I know someone graduating from college and their school colors are red, black and silver.

My circle element is the graduation cap or rather it's official name, a mortar board.  I hope you can see the silver strip of glitter card stock across the card.

That's it for today - 4 posts in one day!

My challenge card:

The sketch:

Freshly Made Sketches #229

Hi card makers,

Can you believe it - 3 posts in one day!  This was a challenge for me because I kept thinking about what to stamp within 3 squares in the Freshly Made Sketches #229.

BUT, I thought out of the box (or square) and decided to use 3 squarish (made up that word!)  The typewriters remind me of high school typing class.  Yep, I learned to touch type on a manual typewriter much like these stamped images. (Ouch, that let's you know hold old I am.)

It would have been really nice to type on a bright fuchsia typewriter.

Here's the card:
Here's the FMS#229 Sketch:
I don't know the name of the company who made the photopolymer stamp and die set.  I know my friend Rubina  purchased it at Tuesday Morning.

Yay! My first challenge pick

Hi Card makers,

It was a nice surprise to have my card selected as a Can You Case It Design team pick!  I heard the great news from my friend and fellow artist friend Rubina.  I was out doing the usual Saturday morning errands when she texted me.  What a nice surprise.  If you haven't jumped into the card challenge arena I encourage you to do so.  It is so much fun and you get lots of great card design layouts.

Stampin Up Gals Gone Wild Weekend Challenge 03/25/2016

Hi Card Makers,

I used Connie Stewart's "Flash Card V.2" system to create this card for the weekend challenge.  If you want to know more on how to create a quick card go to YouTube and search for Connie Stewart Flash Card V.2 and you will find the directions on how to pre-cut your card stock to have available when you need to create a card.

Here's my card:

I love the Stampin Up Papillon Potpourri butterfly set.  The cardstocks I used are from the SU 2015-2017 In Color Set.  I used the Mint Macaron, Watermelon Wonder, Delightful Dijon and Whisper White.  The embossing folder is the SU Elegant Dots.

CYCI#112

Hi Card makers,

Yay!  I have Good Friday off today.  I've had this card on my brain for a few days but haven't had time to get into my craft room.  This was a quick card because I had many of the elements already die cut and screaming to be used.  (Yes, my art supplies talk to me.);-)

I made this card for my parents because after we outgrew the Easter basket phase they would give us a big chocolate bunny after on Easter Sunday.  This Tim Holtz rabbit die looks so much like a chocolate bunny with a pretty pink bow tied around its neck.  The scalloped oval is from My Favorite Things, its a stack of several different sized scalloped ovals.

Have a blessed Easter!

03.18.2016 Challenge Card for Stampin Gals Gone Wild

Hi card makers,

I belong to a Facebook group called Stampin Gals Gone Wild and every week Connie Stewart challenges the members of the group to design and post a card following her card sketch.

I have to admit that this week was a challenge for me.  This was my interpretation of her sketch.  All products used in this project are Stampin Up products.

Jeanette's Birthday Card

Hi Card makers,

Today we celebrated my sister-in-laws birthday.  We celebrated early because her birthday is next Sunday and it's Easter Sunday.  Jeanette loves Mexican folk art, Catrina's, and sugar skulls.  So when my friend showed me her new Simon Says Stamps Sugar Skull stamps I knew my sister in law would appreciate a card featuring sugar skulls.

I added color with my Chameleon Markers and then used different colors of Stickles.  Stickles are a glitter glue so the card is sparkly and festive.

This card came together quickly because I had stamped a bunch of images and die cut them out some time ago.  (Thank you Rubina!)  I also colored them in so all I had to do was layer some cardstock onto a card base.  The card was one of 60 A2 cards packaged together for less than $5 dollars at Michael's craft store.  I gravitate to those when I have to make a card quickly.  All I had to do was stamp the greeting from Papertrey Ink and bam!  A birthday card ready to go to the birthday luncheon.

Mojo Monday #439

HI card makers,

Since I'm on Spring Break and we decided to do a Stay-cation, I've been crafting!  I wish I could make cards everyday and all day long.  (Insert a big sigh here.)

I've made several cards so today I thought I'd make time to take photos and update my blog.

The following card is for the Mojo Monday #439 Sketch challenge.  Can you see the little Verve leaves on this card?  I love those little leaves and I like that I can cut 2 out at the same time.

Here's the Mojo Monday Sketch #439:

Retro Sketch #206 Sending You Smiles

Hi card makers,

I loved Retro Sketch #206 I created 2 cards and then could not decide which to post, so I'm posting both cards.  I used a butterfly die cut from  My Favorite Things dies called, Flutter of Butterflies - Lace and the word, "Sending" is a Simon Says Stamp die.  I also used the Simon Says Stamp coordinating stamp set called, "Sending and Wishing."

I used a Martha Stewart punch to punch out 2 tiny turquoise butterflies.  Don't you wish you could see butterflies in these colors.  Well, actually - real butterflies are prettier and they've started coming around here.  Spring is in the air!

I also used sequins from Pretty Pink Posh.

Here's the sketch:

Retro Sketch #206 Birthday Card

Hi fellow card makers,

I'm on Spring Break this week and I hope I can jump in an make lots of cards to enter into different challenges.  I loved Retro Sketch #206!   I liked it so much that I created 2 cards for this sketch.

I used an Hero Arts DC125 Happy Birthday Stamp & Cut stamp set to stamp the birthday cake and cake stamp and then used the dies to cut the two elements out.  I colored in the cake with Prisma Color Pencils and used Gamsol to blend the colors.

The word "Wishing" is a die from Simon Says Stamp and I used the coordination photopolymer stamp set called "Sending and Wishing."

I also added some Pretty Pink Posh sequins in turquoise, clear and pink.

Can You Case It Challenge # 110

Hi card makers!

Today, I created a card to enter the Can You Case It card challenge.  I've had these adorable owls in my stamp studio and they were calling me to use them.  I just love those owl eyes.  He's like "cool" and he knows it.  Owl attitude!

Here's my card:

I stamped the images in Memento, but I used a brown ink this time and colored in the images with Prisma Colored Pencils.  After I colored the images I used Gamsol (odorless mineral spirits) to blend the colors.  The cloud designer paper is from a Sizzix 6 X 6 paper stack.  It's designed by Stephanie Bernard.  I believe that clouds add a nice touch to the background.  I die cut white card stock circle using a My Favorite Things circle stack.  The owl stamp set is by Paper Smooches and it's called Hooties.

Here's  the CYCI #110 sketch!

Stamp, Ink Paper #36 Again

OK,  so I decided I'd submit another card for the "Anything Goes" challenge this week.

Ever have one of those work days?  I just had to buy that stamp.

CAS(E) #161

Hi Card makers:

This simple card took some thinking.  I wanted to use the happy birthday sentiment I die cut using the Elizabeth Craft Designs die, but it was larger than I expected.  I made it work.  I embossed the black card stock using a Stampin Up embossing folder.  The red glitter balloon was die cut using the My Favorite Things (MFT) Blueprints #26.  I love red balloons.  Doesn't everyone?

The red balloon is cut out of Recollections red glitter card stock.  The sentiment and balloon strip were cut from white card stock and I added clear Wink of Stella for some more shimmer.

Here's sketch #161

That's it for now!

Fusion - Pretty in in Pink

Hi card makers:

I love the Fusion card challenge!  The fun thing about the Fusion card challenges is that one gets to use the sketch or use the photo for or fuse them into one's interpretation.  Love it! Creative options.

I used the Ellen Hutson Scribble Roses (I hope that's what they're named.)  I stamped the rose in My Favorite Things (MFT) Cotton Candy Premium Dye Ink and cut the leaves out of white card stock.  I also used the MFT Mini-Scalloped Squares to stamp my sentiment on and then I used my brayer to ink up my Stampin Up embossing folder in Memento Blue Danube dye ink.  This allowed the blue dye ink to stay in the crevises.  Added a few enamel dots and BAM - done.

Here is the sketch:

Freshly Made Sketches #225

Hi card makers,

I was happy that I had some time to make some cards and join some card challenges this week-end.

I struggled with this card.  I like the sketch but somehow I think my card needs something.  I used Stampin Up Rose Red card stock and some Stampin Up designer series paper.  I love that designer paper and I've been hoarding it.  Do you hoard paper you like?  I'm trying not to do that.  I have to tell you that it hurt cutting into that beautiful paper.  LOL!

Here's my card for Freshly Made Sketches #225

And here's the sketch:
If you have suggestions on how to improve my challenge card, I welcome your comments.

Stamp Ink Paper Challenge #36

Hi card challenge players,

The following is my entry into the Stamp, Ink, Paper card challenge #36.  This weeks theme is anything goes.  I love, love these butterflies.  I tend to add butterflies to many of my cards.  These butterflies are from My Favorite Things company.  They are the Lace Butterflies.

CAS(E) THIS SKETCH #160

Let's talk about a really quick card.  Do you have a ton of washi tape?  Me too!!!  This week's sketch just screamed washi tape to me.  I used the grid lines on my craft mat to help me line up the washi tape strips.  The only difficult part of making this card was deciding which washi tape to use.  The sentiment is from Calico Studio.

Here's my card for the Cas(e) this Sketch Challenge #160:

Viva la Verve February Sketch 2

Hi!

I did not have ANY time to create this weekend due to family obligations.  BUT, about 10 of my best card making friends and I went to the Card and Scrapbook Expo on Feb. 20, 2016 at Grapevine, Texas.  We had so much fun shopping for all kinds of card making goodies.  There is nothing like shopping with like-minded friends.

I took a literal interpretation of the Viva La Verve sketch.  I usually go rogue, but not this time.  The sketch is by Maureen Plut.

I used the my new  Sizzix Scalloped Circles dies designed by Stephanie Bernard.  (She was in Grapevine and we took selfies with her!)  The globe die is also by Sizzix.  The sentiment is from Verve and it's called Adjusted Sails Plain Jane and the Star dies are also from Verve.

Don't you love that sentiment?  It speaks volumes.

Here's my card:

CASE THIS SKETCH #159

Hi Card makers,

It's great to have a 3 day week-end.  I created this card for the CAS(E) This Sketch #159 challenge.  I used a few elements from the My Favorite Things blueprints and that make the card come together pretty quickly.  I needed a masculine birthday card and I tried to do a literally interpretation of the blog designer, Michelle Williams's sketch.  In my head it looked a bit differently and maybe I'll go back and try again.

The words and stars are die cut from a sparkly kraft card stock and the plaid paper has glitter as does the green birthday die.

And here is the sketch design:

Stampin Gals Gone Wild Weekend Challenge

The Stampin Gals Gone Wild Weekend Challenge is administered by Connie Stewart.  This is her Facebook group and every Friday, she posts a new card challenge.  This was the card challenge for the Jan 29, 2016 Weekend.

Stampin' Gals Gone Wild Weekend Challenge for January 29, 2016 - check it out at www.SimplySimpleStamping.com
I changed the card orientation but used the same design elements as the sketch.

Color Throwdown #337 Card

I've been very creative this week and focused on entering a few card challenges.  This is a first time I enter a card into the Color Throwdown #337 Challenge.  Here's the color challenge:
I love the kraft, yellow and gray combination!  Here's one of two cards I made using the color throwdown.

I used a Darice die to cut the tree out of kraft card stock.  The sentiment is from My Favorite Things and I used a little flower punch to punch out the yellow flowers.  Added some pearls to the flower centers and some yellow twine.  I used several My Favorite Things rectangle dies to cut the white and gray card stock layers.  All mounted on a different shade of kraft card stock.

Stamp, Ink, Paper #32 Tic-Tac-Toe Challenge

Thanks for stopping by to look at my Stamp, Ink, Paper Tic-Tac-Toe Challenge.  Here's the sketch:
SIP Tic Tac Toe 32 800
The card I designed came together quickly.  In fact, I put it together while my friend Rubina and I "crafted" during lunch time on Thursday.  My card fits the top horizontal line of the Tic-Tac-Toe because it's red, the word "love" is a die-cut, and it has a heart embossed.  It also fits the left to right diagonal tic-tac-toe:  red, the word "love" and bling!  The bling is from the silver glitter paper.

Freshly Made Sketches #221

This is the first time I'm submitting a card to the Freshly Made Card Challenge.  It's amazing how many card challenges are out on the web these days.  It's a great starting point when deciding on to put a card together.

Here's the sketch:

This is my interpretation of the sketch:

I've had the rubber stamp for YEARS and had never used it until today.  I used Zig Real Watercolor Brush markers to color the butterflies.  Hope you like it!
